But surprisingly in Dubai, even just weeks before the launch, few people, actually knew much about the Metro. Flip Media decided to take action and do what we do best…. launch a dynamic interactive website.

Today they unveil mydubaimetro.com, a non-profit portal developed as a service to residents and visitors of Dubai. It’s packed with great features like detailed station information, connecting buses data, downloadable pocket maps, a detailed FAQ, and journey planner and fare calculator.

Flip’s design team created a really fresh look and feel with a vibrant palette and simple bold icons to help users find helpful information quickly. Keeping in mind the fact that it’s a community portal, they have devoted plenty of space to user generated content like blogs for people to share their views and experiences and media sections for metro photo sharing.

The site is scalable, so there will be plenty more features to come. In time, mydubaimetro.com will not only serve as a one stop shop for information, but also create long lasting connections.

Finally can plan my mountain bike routes using Google Map and Garmin :-)

Either way, the new iPhone OS 3 is amazing with copy&paste, msg forwarding and mosts importantly the fully integrated spotlight search. A bit buggy when it comes to WiFi but definitely worth the upgrade. Make sure you are on a fully paid up developer license as you need to register your phone ID.

Proper iPhone formatting works really nicely although I have some suggestions:

  • Comments should be added as links underneath articles
  • if no pages are there, take out the pages title (see screen shot below)
  • image meta description could come below embedded images
  • tags and author name below post

Either way, a great and valuable plug-in that is worth a donation, and amazing that it is already downloaded almost 30,000 times.
